Yogesh Baweja | | Yogesh Baweja leads the Indian team at Samtel. A Mechanical Engineer and MBA with Diploma in Tool & Die Making, and PG Diploma in Import & Export Management; he has about 20 years of proven track record in Vendor Development, Global Sourcing, Materials Management, Supply Chain management, Procurement, and Inventory Management.
Yogesh also has expertise in Material Management activities involving Vendor Development, Global Sourcing, Material Planning, Scheduling and Procurement of Automotive parts, Proprietary Aggregates, Auto Electrical, Sheet metal parts, Plastics/Rubber Parts, Engine components, Machined Parts, etc. He is adept in conceptualization and development of Press Tools, Moulds, Jigs and Fixtures and is experienced in capital purchasing as well.
He is well-versed with managing & deploying resources with focus on optimization & cost savings, and has successfully achieved cost savings on products through alternate / new source development and negotiations. G.S. Selwyn – the Managing Director of Samtel Electronic Devices GmbH has done his Bachelors in Chemistry and B.Tech. in Production Technology from Madras Institute of Technology. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management.
He started his career in Materials Management and Production Planning at Uptron India Limited, Lucknow in 1987. Since 1990, he is associated with Samtel Group and was responsible for developing International markets in Asia, Europe and Africa for Samtel’s various display products where Samtel grew in Market share. He also managed key major Customer accounts in India for Samtel Color Limited, during 1998-1999.
In year 2000, Selwyn had the opportunity to take up responsibility at Corporate level in Strategic Planning & Business Development. He moved to Ulm, Germany in mid 2001, as the Head of Sales & Marketing when Samtel established its first overseas manufacturing unit for Professional CRTs in a JV with Thales group. He was instrumental in establishing Samtel as a credible new player in Avionics, Defence, Medical Imaging and Industrial segments worldwide.
As the Business Manager of this SBU since 2004, he has led a team of motivated, committed and well experienced employees into new programs apart from consolidating their strengths in existing avionics and defence platforms. During this period, SED changed its focus to become a significant player of Professional CRTs for Avionics, Ground, Naval and Special applications built on technology, quality, cost and relationship.
